Belle The Baza

 

Belle was a Crested Hawk or Pacific Baza, a beautiful small hawk that is found in Australia’s rainforests. She fell out of her nest in a high wind but was lucky enough to be found before she died.

As soon as she was settled in my aviary, she began calling in a high pitched voice: eee aaahhh eeee aaahhh. She was answered by the local Baza tribe. She stayed with me until she matured. When I opened the door to the aviary, I watched her fly out and meet her friends. I think she already knew which one was the love of her life. I hope they are still out there and that they have many children.
